MY ESSAY PART 2

Here's my another essay: I made this last December 9, 2009. Enjoy!

The Indolence of the Filipinos

Indolence is anywhere. I believe that not all Filipinos were indolence. Like what I’ve written in the first reaction, the Spaniards where the people who were lethargic. But why we need to know why they identified as an indolent people? Do they ask among their selves if they’re not like that? I supposed they’re not.

Gazing back centuries ago, Filipinos were diligent and passionate to their works. Trading of agriculture products was one way of living for the Filipino people. I remember the story of my friend, let me share to you. (But maybe you already know this).  During the colonial days, we gained money through farming and fishing stuff like that. Farmers and fishers usually woke up as much as early sunrise.  In order to obtain more sea creature and produce added agricultural products. Due to exhaustion as well as preventing heat of sun rays, they normally rest for awhile. Exactly the time, the “others” were just ready for office works and operating their own business things similar to that.  And voila! That was the scene they saw, Filipinos sleeping beneath the tree. Then they accused without hesitation that we’re indolent right away. Hah! If only they know what was truly happening when they’re peacefully sleeping!

Consider the saying “Daig ng maagap ang masipag”. Filipinos are still like that until now. Things were just being misrepresented. Indolent was not the right word for describing us. I strongly believe that we must thoroughly study what was the problem why were called indolent.

Analyzing the causes before proposing the remedy was the right way to do. Let’s put it this way, recently my classmate had a toothache. A dentist asked him what was the food he ate and the things he do lately. (Although we all know, the specialist already identifies the causes yet just for additional info). He answers it, eating too much sweet foods and not brushing regularly. So the dentist do the right thing for the medication his been crying for. Aforementioned to that, let’s think what were the causes why we’ve been indolent? It’s just because we lose hope for the progress of our nation along with our lives? I don’t think it is.

The climate is part of the planet. Living inside it, some people experience four seasons while us, we only have two seasons, the summer and the rainy seasons. I believe it does influence our lifestyles. Like us, when cold temperature hits our zone, we tend to sleep for long hours because of nice and cool feeling. Sip hot chocolate, savoring yummy soups at the same time relaxing inside our home. On the other hand, when summer was there, we want to be in the beach, feeling the water against our tan body. Just have fun with friends or family. That were the things people do instead of focusing on the work load.

Some traits are not hereditary. The indolence amongst Filipinos should not be a heritable. Negative mannerism ought to be avoided. I believe it’s in the person whether he/she wants to be indolent. Maybe they have their own reasons why they’re behaving like that. Everything has a reason. But if I was them, I’d rather not be like the Filipinos before. There’s much more to do, focus on your positive quality. Enhance it.

Warfare was a part of history we all want to forget. Trailed of devastation and misery was take placed to our nation. Hopelessness of people to live longer was not there. Nobody was there even the existence of government who’s responsible for the welfare of its constituents. So how can we move on?! That’s why we end up being indolent. How can we gain progress if we can’t defend our own selves against conquerors? We tend to lose hope and give up. Unawareness to do the right thing was there.

Filipinos are industrious and persistent people. As long as we love what were doing, we’re happy and we’ll do everything to be better in our craft. However, if the time comes that we find difficulty and no sense of belongingness; expect the inattention result to your work. Let’s put this in reality; both girls were working on an advertisement agency. One girl was very attentive and hard-working to its job while the other was not that much. A promotion was in the air, the latter was nervous that the former might get that. So she does everything to get what she wants. Things go her way, the hard-working girl renounced. She loses interest in her work because of some factors that she can’t handle anymore.

For the people who done nothing harm to anyone doesn’t deserved imprisonment. Similar to not being free, in terms of his/her own rights being a human. Who is not free is not responsible for his action. It’s true. Why? Because he is not given the opportunity to be free, express his actions and do what he/she truly wants. Give them the freedom they want and you’ll see, they’re be responsible enough to be careful to their actions.

Lack of respect for other’s feeling is harmful. It’s like you only respect nothing but your self. Remember the cliché “no man is an island”. People were created for the benefit of one another. We are created not to hurt anyone but to spread love to everyone. It is harmful if we didn’t value anything surrounds us. Why? Because you only see your own self and everyone were nobody. What if the moment comes that you need any help and the only available answer are the people around you? Could you survive? So, it’s better to be good and friendly to everybody.

Human rights were everyone’s privileged. But what if were being deprived? We should protest and fight for our own good! We have the every right to do that, why? Because they taken away the fundamental nature of being human. What for was our life if we’re been underprivileged?! We were born in this planet to enjoy the gift of life not to deprive.

Peoples and government are correlated. Like in the subject Philippines Constitution, the two words mentioned earlier were under the elements of a state. Alongside are sovereignty and territory. Without people there was no government as well as if there’s no government there were no people. Government was created for the welfare of the people around it. Moreover the people need the government to govern and took care of them. It’s like our heart and our brain, both are important to one another. But looking at the present, it seems that the government was taking advantage of our ignorance and weakness as its citizen. They’re abusing their power as government officials to corrupt and do anything they want even without asking for our part.

The big portions of land of the Philippines have been claimed by the Spaniards friar not for the benefit of Filipino people but for their own sake. Good for them! They fostered indolence among us. Because of their greediness, many loses job and hopes to do business on their own. As you can see up to now, the names of the buildings and places were named after the owner which was the Spaniards. Asked your grandma and grandpa, if they had a Spanish blood, you’ll surely have a land of your own. While some poor Indios didn’t comprises anything but merely their carabaos and agricultural things. If only they know what were the opportunities they taken away, it was our land but then were like the beggar who only elms for money and justice we’ve been wishing for.

Have you ever experienced your intelligence have been unappreciated? As well as the freedom to live on your own was been deprived? Well, our native Filipinos felt that kind of feeling. It’s like your only an oxygen in the atmosphere, they only uses you because they need you but not been appreciated. We all deserve to be valuable in a manner that we make use of our positive traits for the people surrounding us. Let’s put it this way, the ghost only premonition a person once it done against the spirit of phantom. If the spirit has not been free and respected, expect the scary and unexplainable things could happen. Therefore let them free and be respected so there would be harmony and progress presence in our nation.

Miracles are true. I envisage beliefs in life without it, it’s incomplete. There was no harm on placing hopes on miracles. There is, if you only depend on that phenomenon. You do nothing but rely on miracles, that, someday you’ll going to be rich and famous. On the other hand, if you do the right thing; believe for the good outcome and prayed for it, you’ll surely do achieve what you’re hoping for. With pure heart and clean motive, miracles will come your way. There’s no need to call all the Saints, just you and Almighty God would be enough. No need of foreign lines for prayer to memorize and rituals to follow. Our Lord God is in our heart, so anywhere, anyhow, and anytime we can communicate with HIM. I personally experienced that kind of feeling that you losses hope and there’s no answer to your dilemma. I just prayed there would be miracles that could happen. By using my own creation of prayer and sincere purposed. One by one my problem got a solution. So don’t be pessimistic, think miracles do wonder simply to the people who truthfully and purely believe on its power.

Indolence is part of our system, it depends on us whether we want to activate it or not. But if I were them it’s better not to, because Filipinos are truly diligent and compassion to their works.
