MY ESSAY PART 3

I made this last December 2, 2009.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Philippines a Century Hence

Jose Rizal’s exceptional mind was a gift for his fellowmen. Through his writings we know how merciless the Spaniards toward us. It’s true that in order to foretell the future, one should know the past. Remember that our past defines our future. Let’s put it this way, when you’re sick you consult a doctor. The first thing a doctor would do, is asked you about your past lifestyle and family history. That way, he’ll know what could be the cure to your sickness. It’s the same with our Philippines history; we must study the past to answer the questions in the future.

The Filipinos were much affected by the Spanish Imperialism. We had reliance on them; it comes to the point that we almost change the cultures and laws of our own. Even our language as well as our way of living adjusts for the sake of them. Without knowing that Spaniards were only using us as a bait to gain the privileges our nation can provide.

It has been in the Filipinos to support and patronized international, whether it’s product or entertainment. The depressing traits of us were still present until now. Still importing products when in fact, workers here were much capable of what foreign can offer. In short made in the Philippines is better than the others. Having a crab mentality must be out of our system. What’s the reason of others to be ashamed of our own culture? Is it because you didn’t want to be a loser?  Or you wanted to be a cream of the crop, talk-of–the-town just because you have state side products and accent? I pity those people; our country didn’t need them. It’s not acceptable to forget our own roots. We Filipino should be the one who must love our own. It only shows where we stand now, sad to say, a lot of people were still the same. Hoping that one day we’ll be awakened, Filipinos for Philippines, let’s support our own. We’ll see the glory and prosperity were anticipating for.

I believe Filipinos were not sluggish. We were actually one of the most hard worker people in the world.  Only proves that foreign countries were more considerate for the OFW’s. The Spaniards maybe they were lazy. They discriminated and insulted us without thinking that they’re stepping in our own land. We didn’t do anything against them, but then again, they’re bad so expect it. They used our weakness and fooled us. Claimed and stolen our own land properties. Abused us, it’s too much. Their soul must be buried in hell, poor Indios for sacrificing everything.

It’s better to know what the past history of our nation is. But there’s a saying past is past. Still, past counts a lot. Through the past experience of life, we learned. At least when the same problem arises again we’ll now know what to do.

It’s not easy to answer the question regarding the future of our nation. Knowing how many times we’ve been conquered. But through the centuries, we’ve enhanced better ideas and actions to compensate that query. It’s like experiencing twice the mistake, but, at the third one; you’ll definitely know what steps to take in order not to do it again.

Figuring and analyzing the political situation then and now was quite hard. At the present we have improved political system than before. No more traces of slavery and less immorality compared to the Spanish era. It’s important to know what best solution or political strategy to use whenever problem strikes again.

The situation of the Philippines went better at the time Rizal wrote the article but only for awhile. Why just a little span of time? Maybe the Spaniards are afraid that Rizal might totally write unfavorable things about them. But remember, Spaniards used to be a pokerfaced human. Come to think of it, they only do good things towards us, if only they gain from it. What a sluggish and prudent people.

Philippines remain stable only at the beginning of Spanish era. The rest was a melancholy. You know its part of their strategy, getting our trust. Befriended us, deceived us and made us as a toy. I just marvel, if they didn’t conquered us, were exactly okay. Peaceful, simple and happy way of living is what we dreamt of.

Violence was not the answer for everything as well as brutalization. We should make love not war. Philippines didn’t deserve that. We can achieve progress by helping hand in hand. Being optimistic must be in our mindset. But how can we aim for progression if there’s a hindrance? Was the response to it should be a revolution or a reform? We only need each other to survive this, aroused our minds that this land is our land.

Poverty is still one of the several problems our nation is currently facing. Our government cannot satisfy and compensate the needs our fellowmen. Take a look at the basic unit of society; the family. If the first family was richer compare to the other, the former can only provide their necessities, buy and have anything they want. The progress is there, on the other hand, the latter had nothing but love. It’s a good realization to our government, that in order to be prosperous, we should start at our own little homes.

Gradual destruction was kind a fierce, the right word could be, maybe, minimizing the Philippines’s population. I believe it’s very essential to equally supply the demand of every Filipino people. If our population continues to multiply, unfortunate outcome would come our way. Poverty, crime, corruption and a lot more would be some of those. More people would die because of hunger. So I just wonder why churches don’t allowed having a law like the RH Bill. Are they not afraid over population can lead to much bigger problems? Or they have their own personal scheme behind it?

Showing hostility to the person was not the answer for the much awaited progression of our nation. Let’s put it in a reality; when a person has a food business, it’s better to be hospitable. Why? Of course to attract more customers, people would love that. Nice food, classy ambience plus warmth people. So imagine, favorable response might draw closer. Consider this,   good communication equals good nation.

Reforms means partial changes, I think Philippines succeed on that. Let’s face the fact that we cannot totally throw away the traces and history that Spaniards leave to our country. But we could alter our destiny, keep in mind that man is the creator of his own destiny. Let’s start with ourselves; we could achieve reform one step at a time.

Free press is one way of spreading or sharing the issues regarding our nation. The advantages would be; we know what’s happening in our country whether good or bad. At the same time, we get warned and informed of what possible things might happen. The disadvantages on the other hand; it’s for the part of the press people that they might end up killed just because they exposed news against the rich people. Also, they might spread malicious and untrue stories just to damage a good person’s life for the sake of some bad guys.

Education is very fundamental to all human kind, rich or poor. This is a stepping stone for a successful life and responds to the fulfillment of our goals. If the reformation of it could benefit more Filipinos, go. Change for the better. Nowadays more and more smarter people were born.  We need to make effort and strive harder. As a student, I’m personally unsatisfied with what our government made plans for our education. Deficiency in class rooms, school paraphernalia and teachers were increasing. Out of school youth were abundant, so reform is very applicable. If we have an efficient and effective education, we could solve problems. With the things we learned at the school. Our government must pay attention to that aspect, because it’s only education that each ordinary Filipino parent could give to their children.

Ruling one nation over another country only proves greediness and laziness. I guess, history repeats itself. We can’t blame history for what was happened to us, but the people who’s responsible for it. The Spaniards were greedy of power, wealth, women and etc. They want to overpower the things that should not belong to them. Spaniards were also lethargic. They even don’t try to work hard for their own self. I’m annoyed with them for using our country.

Education and liberties were the most important in every nation. Once it has been denied many would suffer and get affected. It’s like you’re a prisoner who’d been denied by a liberty and education.

The Philippines political condition centuries ago, had no difference as of today. The war at the Southern Mindanao was still there. Many Filipino people still working abroad and they are actually growing. There’s no change, always been a servant of foreigners still fighting for the freedom but not with Spain anymore but with the USA.

Asian people were nice and have a sensible side. Particularly we Filipinos, were kind, it comes to the point we would sacrifice everything for someone we trust. Let’s put it this way, when you’re in a relationship in order to survive, one should sacrifice for the sake of love. Okay, you trust him but when obstacle comes, he cheated; you’ll know that relationship have been broken. Even though in some cases, forgiving was there but not forgetting what had happened. In real life of a Filipino, we must admit, were kind a idiot - as what Spaniards said – were actually being fooled at the front of our faced yet some were faithful to them and bestow what they want.

It should be happened as much early, if were tougher and vigilant enough to fight. We must apprehend that many Spaniards were bad guys. They were greedy, they’re like blood sucking monster whose thirst of fresh and innocent blooded people. After centuries of slavery, were now awaken on the fact they’re too much, too much taken advantage of our weakness. We must realize that no one would help of us but only our own selves.

Some of friars, I suppose had a genuine relationship with Indios, we trust them at the beginning because they show kindness and defend us to some evil Spaniards. But if I’m not mistaken, friars during that time had a position to the government. Believing they want to have the best of both worlds. Greedy isn’t it?

Justice is what our nation truly needs as of this moment. The Philippines was in 3rd world countries. Money can buy anything even people. So expect even judges couldn’t be fair anymore. Imagined Filipinos are still living in darkness for that kind of aspect. Resembling of Maguindanao Massacre, many innocent people were died. Sad to say, it’s hard to achieve the justice whom victims where looking for. What do we expect, most Muslim area were not much civilized. Even in most populated local region, the word justice is the same with impossible. I told you money is the root of all evil. Money can buy anything even the supreme justice.

Positive attitude is all we need. Human will and conscience are some of examples. Let’s put it in a real situation, each person was given a body and soul. Both used for Samaritan purposes, it depends to us on how we’ll used them. Let’s admit conscience prevails more than anything. It could bring change to you moreover to the nation.  Human-will could help us to transform our country for a better government. But could we do that? The Spaniards must grant us the freedom we’ve asking for. Deprivation is not we deserved, we should endeavor for our rights and progress.
